Welcome to a lecture with egyptologist Luigi Prada, Uppsala University!
When it comes to the study of queerness in antiquity, most of us will immediately think of Greece and Rome. However, long before them, the civilisation of ancient Egypt already displayed approaches to human sexuality that, by today’s standards, could be identified as queer. This lecture will introduce the audience to these fascinating and yet little-known aspects of ancient Egypt’s society, looking at the ancient evidence and texts, and will discuss how archaeology can benefit from the use of queer perspectives in investigating the human past
This lecture is a collaboration with ABF Gotland.
