How does violence creep into the everyday until it just... is? And how do we start recognizing it in people around us, in our own bodies and lives?
We're bringing together two people with different but connected stories: Sasha Skochilenko - a famous Russian artist who was imprisoned (yes, imprisoned) for replacing supermarket price tags with anti-war messages. She'll join us online to share what prison and repression were actually like, how she dealt with it, and what it's been like having to leave. A queer person(s) living in Malmö, who'll reflect on violence both here in Sweden and back in Russia, the obvious and the less visible kinds, and how similar patterns show up in both places. We want this to be a real conversation. We'll explore how violence gets normalized, what that does to queer people no matter where we are, and how we can learn to see it (and push back). What to expect: A moderated discussion, but very open, we want to hear from you.
Who should come: Anyone who cares about queer lives, supporting each other, or just wants to think together. Moderated by: Julia Sergeeva, Malmö Against the War This is the first event supporting BOXED, an immersive exhibition of real stories from LGBTQ+ people in Russia.
